Welcome to Kophaza
Kópháza /Koljnof, is a large village in Győr-Moson-Sopron country of ~2000 inhabitants, near Sopron (5 km). Nowadays are less people in the village, who speak the language Croatian, approximately 43,6%.
The villages near Kópháza are Harka and Nagycenk.
The most important sight is a chapel. This chapel has built in the 18th century in honour of the
Blessed Virgin. This chapel is a place of pilgrimage. The Croatian Regional House is very important, it’s preserving the history and the objects of the nationality.
In the 13th century Kópháza had two names, „Ravaszdvíz” and „Tarnavíz”. The owner of these areas was Peter Kolb. He lived in Sopron and the name „Kolbenhof” – Kolbenhof is Kópháza in German – was probably of the name „Kolb”. Between 1430 and 1848 Kópháza was the villain village of Sopron.
One of the most important chorister masters of the village was Mihály Nakovich. The primary school was named after him.
When somebody wants to go on an outing, or just make a trip, the Lake Fertő is a good choosing.
It’s ~1 hour with bicycle.
For the mayor of the village, Ferenc Grubits, are the cultural development and the tourism very important. The environmental protection is very significant. The sister town of the village is a small country town, Kiseljak. Kiseljak is in Bosnia-Hercegovina. A lot of people speak there the language Croatian. Kiseljak is a developing town: a lot of spas, and the mercantile trade is really important.
The mineral is useful for this small town. And the tourism is significant.
